An impromptu trip to Yellowstone Nat’l Park!

On the way back home from my college graduation and our trip to New York City, we stopped in the West for some business, and one last adventure: an impromptu trip to Yellowstone National Park! It was so much fun! We drove through it for a couple hours. It was calming and peaceful, but also exciting and stimulating, to be surrounded by all that Old West style nature!

(The first time we saw those was during our Utah trip this spring, and it was nice to see some again!)IMG_2328 IMG_2331 IMG_2337 These were just sitting by the road. Lots of people were stopping to take pictures, but they didn’t seem to mind the attention 😉IMG_2356 IMG_2361 Zoom lens time!IMG_2370 IMG_2377 Amber waves of grain…IMG_2384 IMG_2387The steam here is coming from natural hot mineral springs in the earth. Pretty cool!
IMG_2408 IMG_2418The park is huge, so we didn’t drive through it all, but we did want to take some time to go see Old Faithful. You can click on and enlarge the below sign to read some about it.
IMG_2425 IMG_2434 IMG_2435 It was steaming for quite some time, like this.IMG_2439 And it kept steaming…IMG_2450 Then, water started spraying up…IMG_2456 IMG_2459 IMG_2460It shot up really high!
IMG_2462 It continued for some minutes, then abruptly tapered off.IMG_2470 And the steam started up again.IMG_2474 More hot springsIMG_2487 Just as we were leaving, we saw another herd of buffalo by the side of the road. So we stopped for a bit.IMG_2499They got really close to the car!
IMG_2501 I mean, REALLY close!20140924_190946 But, they were minding their business the whole time!20140924_191202-1

It was a very enjoyable time, resting in and marveling at the wonders of God’s creation, in all its pristine beauty.

For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are Mine.
~ Psalm 50:10-11 ~

Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord.
~ Psalm 96:12 ~
