Utah (part 2): the Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island, and bison up close!
While on our trip to Utah in May, we went to see the Great Salt Lake.
Coming up to the lake. The white is dried salt left behind when the sun causes the water around the edges to evaporate.
Through the gap there, that’s a water-way to get to Antelope Island in the middle of the lake.
Having fun throwing rocks into the water.
And this road is the land-way to get to Antelope Island. This is the way we went.
And another antelope! (This was all for the day, though.)
These were the first bison we saw, and we were thrilled!
After driving around the island for a while, we got to this old (converted, now) ranch and stopped to look around.
But it got even better. Out behind the ranch, there was a bison herd quite close by!
As we were leaving, the bison herd was on the road we were taking to get out. They were behind us, but we backed up to get closer 😀
That’s one jumping up on another 😉
This is pretty much my prize photo of all time 😀
And then this rather bad photo was taken through our dirty windshield and shows the herd in the act of stampeding across the road! I was practically out of memory card space so I couldn’t get a video. But it was SO COOL.
Getting to see bison, and to see them that close up, was an incredible experience, one that I thank God for.
For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills.
~ Psalm 50:10 ~
Magnificent shots. Indeed, that close up of the bison is pretty awesome. Gods creatures are quite stunning.
